It turns out they're just slightly irregular and easily repaired. Constructed of 1/8ä and 1/4ä plywood with a sliding Plexiglass front panel.

99081  Special Purchase Room Box Kit by Houseworks
The easy to assemble kit is constructed of 3/8" MDF and comes complete with baseboard, crown molding and chair rail materials. It also includes a false wall that can be placed in either corner. This wall can hold a window or bookcase, or you can enlarge the opening to hold a door. The 3/4" wood planked floor is installed and ready to stain and varnish. The picture frame molding is mitered and grooved to accept glass or Plexiglas (neither is included).
